Boxing Day fixture list hit by Covid

A number of Boxing Day clashes have been postponed with more teams being unable to field sides due to Covid infections.

In the Premier League, the lunchtime kick offs between Liverpool and Leeds and Wolves v Watford have been postponed.

The Football League has also seen a number of games called off, with fixtures between Christmas and New Year also in doubt as teams have to self-isolate. At time of writing a total of fifteen fixtures have been postponed across the Championship, League One and League Two.

Boxing Day is one of the most popular dates on the footballing calendar for fans, who as it stands will still be able to attend matches that go ahead pending any further restrictions implemented by the government.

Earlier this week the Premier League agreed to continue to fulfil their fixtures where possible, despite some calls for a pause in the schedule over Christmas due to the amount of squads currently dealing with Covid.
