Burnley cause shock on Premier League opening day

Football is back and the first Friday night opener between Arsenal and Leicester set the tone for the weekend's Premier League games.

Arsenal and Leicester shared seven goals as the Gunners came back in the last ten to claw back two goals and get the points.

Saturday's games saw Champions, Chelsea take on Burnley - many people's favourites for the drop. But tell that to Sean Dyche's men - who were three nil up by the interval. And even though Chelsea had Cesc Fabregas and Gary Cahill sent off - Burnley won on merit despite two late Chelsea strikes.

That might have been the shock of the day, but another coupon buster was Watford who led twice against Liverpool only to need a 92 minute leveller to grab a vital point for new boss Marco Silva who couldn't disguise his pleasure on the touchline. Jurgen Klopp was less impressed with his sides inability to keep a lead.

Everton and West Brom had more routine 1-0 home wins over Stoke and Bournemouth and Swansea and Southampton shared the spoils.

Brighton welcomed over 33,000 to the AMMEX for their first ever Premier League game. They kept title favourites Manchester City at bay for 70 minutes before The Citizens stamped their class on the game to run out two-nil winners.

But save the best for last and that has to be Huddersfield's demolition of Crystal Palace at Palace. The Terriers making their first top flight appearance for over 40 years demolished a Palace side under new boss Frank de Boer. The former Ajax boss will need to take a look at the missed chances - with Benteke - normally so reliable the main culprit.

With an average of over 3 goals a game the scene is set for another great season in the Prem.
