Championship: Birmingham City sack manager Lee Clark
Birmingham City have sacked manager Lee Clark and his assistant Steve Watson with immediate effect.
"In the meantime, first-team coach Richard Beale and chief scout Malcolm Crosby have been placed in caretaker charge."
"The club wishes to place on record its sincere thanks to Lee Clark and Steve Watson for their combined efforts over a period stretching back to June 2012."
Clark has had to work in a tough environment in his two seasons at the Midlands club, with the club's financial issues and owner Carson Yeung's legal battles in his native Hong Kong.
But Clark managed to put a brave face on the club's position in his first season in charge, leading the club to 12th in the Championship.
Last season however did not go so smoothly, with the club having not won a home league game since October 2013, they avoided relegation on the last day of the season, with an injury time goal.
Their start to this season has not seen much improvement, 21st in the Championship, with only two wins from their opening twelve fixtures.
