Championship: Bolton sell training ground to Wigan despite takeover nearing completion

Football News 24/7

Championship side Bolton Wanderers have sold their Euxton training ground to nearby Wigan Athletic.

The Latics will move their first-team training base there from Christopher Park, which they will now use to train their academy teams.

Meanwhile Bolton will now use to their Lostock facility as well as the Macron Stadium.

The club have been forced into selling off assets, including a car park adjacent to their stadium, to help alleviate the financial pressure they're currently under.

The club is currently £172.9m in debt, with the majority of that owed to current owner Eddie Davis. He has said that if a new buyer is found he will write off that debt, but is no longer willing to invest money in the club.

A consortium led by former player Dean Holdsworth is believed to be getting close to agreeing a takeover.
