Championship: Cardiff City placed under transfer embargo

Cardiff City Football Club have confirmed that it has been made subject to an FFP embargo during the January 2016 transfer window.

The Bluebirds become the fourth club in the Championship currently under embargo, alongside Fulham Nottingham Forest and Bolton.

In a statement on the club's official website, they have confirmed that they will comply with the FFP rulings but have also stated that 'it is our firmly-held view that Cardiff City Football Club has indeed complied with the FFP requirements for season 2014/15 - contrary to the League’s position.'

"As such, further advice will be sought, prior to a decision being made internally as to whether or not an appeal will be lodged." the statement read.

The embargo will be in place for the rest of the January window, subject to any potential appeal, but the club have made reassurances that they are on track to comply with FFP regulations for the 2015/16 season, and will expect to be able to make signings during the summer window.
