Cellino was banned by the Football League after he was found guilty of tax evasion in his native Italy, which meant he could not have any involvement in the club or event attend matches.

He lost an appeal in January over his ban, but was allowed to return to Elland Road for the final game of the season against Rotherham.

"Mr Cellino will take up the role as Leeds United chairman with immediate effect after passing the League’s Owners and Directors Test."

Cellino's first act now he is back at the club will seemingly be to decide the future of manager Neil Redfearn. The former academy coach has served the club for a number of years and has endeared himself to the fans, who have been vocal in their support.

The same could not be said for David Hockaday, who was Cellino's first managerial appointment at the club at the start of the season, who was sacked after six matches and an unpopular choice in the stands.
