A statement on the governing body's official site said, "The matter will be heard by a Football Disciplinary Commission which will take place at the earliest possible opportunity to ensure that it reaches its conclusion before the end of the current season."

Rawson had initially joined the club on a 28 youth loan from fellow Championship side Derby on March 7th, with Rotherham facing Brighton a day after that loan was supposed to end.

The game finished 1-0 and manager Steve Evans said after the game that the loan had been extended until the end of the season.

Rotherham are currently 21st in the league, and seven points clear of Wigan and Millwall below them. However, if they are found guilty of fielding an ineligible player, they could be deducted three points, with Millwall still to play a game more.
