Championship: Turbulent day for Leeds United as Massimo Cellino is banned by Football League
Cellino was banned earlier this year by the Football League for breaching the League's Owners' and Directors' Test.
The Italian has now been found to have breached those rules again relating to a conviction in his native Italy for not paying tax on an imported car.
"At its recent meeting, the Board of The Football League considered the position of Leeds United President Massimo Cellino under its Owners' and Directors' test." a statement from the Football League read.
In June, Mr Cellino was found guilty by a Court in Sardinia of an offence under Italian tax legislation relating to the non-payment of VAT on the importation of a Land Rover vehicle. This resulted in a fine of €40,000 and the confiscation of the vehicle in question.
The statement continued, "Having considered detailed legal advice and the Court’s reasoned judgment, as supplied by Mr Cellino, the Board determined that the decision of the Italian Court constitutes a disqualifying condition under the Owners' and Directors' test."
"Mr Cellino has until October 28 to appeal against the Board's decision. Any such appeal would be heard by an independent panel. "
This news comes on the same day that Cellino sacked one Head Coach and appointed another.
Following their 2-1 defeat to Brighton, Uwe Rosler was relieved of his duties as boss, with his replacement, former Rotherham boss Steve Evans, taking training with the first team squad today.
He later confirmed to Sky Sports that he was now in charge at Leeds, with a formal press conference to be held by the club tomorrow.
