Charlton to give gate receipts to Margate
Charlton Athletic have agreed to give their 50% of gate receipts from their match against Margate on Wednesday night to help the non-league side with their continuing financial problems.
As per FA rules both sides are entitled to 50% of gate receipts from the Kent Senior Cup quarter final tie, however, Charlton have chosen to waive their right to the money.
Margate chairman, Alistair Bayliss, said "I can’t thank the people at Charlton Athletic enough for this amazing gesture of waiving their share of the gate receipts on Wednesday night, even when they’re having some difficulties of their own at the moment, it shows a real spirit and togetherness in football.”
He added that he felt the money would "make a huge difference" to the club and hoped everyone who attends the match has an enjoyable evening.
