Whilst the encounter between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners is classed as a friendly, developments over the summer around these two clubs makes this a potentially feisty encounter.

And Jose Mourinho evidently means to make sure it is, with his recent comments about Arsenal's transfer spending continuing a long running war of words with his opposite number Arsene Wenger.

Wenger opted to be diplomatic this time around, saying that the club 'don't listen to others', but with years of rivalry and even physical confrontation on the touchline in the past, you can bet that Wenger will be itching to put Mourinho in his place.

However, as the two manager prepare to meet for the fourteenth time, Mourinho can still boast an unbeaten record against the Frenchman.

Another big talking point will be Petr Cech, who left Stamford Bridge for the Emirates this summer in a £10m move. The signing of Cech has been heralded by many as the difference between the Gunners being top four regulars and genuine title contenders.

He remains Arsenal's only signing to date, but with Theo Walcott and Santi Carzola both committing their futures to the club this week, there is a sense of growing anticipation that this could be their season.

For Chelsea, who replaced Cech with Asmir Begovic and also signed Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao on loan, the onus will be very much on more of the same from the side who comfortably won the Premier League last season.

But with Diego Costa's hamstring problems having already resurfaced during pre-season, and Falcao's poor form for United last season, there could be another big signing on the way to Stamford Bridge.

With Sunday's match the last preparation before the start of the Premier League season, a win for either side will could provide a significant mental boost over their title rivals.
