Chelsea take firm grip on Premier League title
Chelsea came from behind to show their credentials to beat Liverpool 2-1 on Saturday. They have also beaten Arsenal and drawn with Man City and United to ensure none of their main rivals can gain ground directly off them.
In contrast Arsenal- losers to Swansea, Man City (grabbed a late draw at QPR), Liverpool (lost last four games) and Man United (struggling away from Old Trafford) are all dropping points to lower opposition.
The lack of a credible challenge has seen the likes of Southampton - won again Saturday, Swansea - who as we said above beat Arsenal and West Ham - all in the top six.
Chelsea - as short as 6/1 to go unbeaten all season - would now need to lose three matches to give the chasing pack a chance - unless of course Southamton carry on and maintain their challnge in second spot - they are five points adrift of the leaders.
Chelsea are a best priced 1/6, City are a best priced 12s and it's any price the rest.
But the way City are playing, unless something changes - don't look anything like the side that lifted the trophy last time. Too many players were out of sorts in the game at QPR and their European form has been dire.
Southampton - available at over 1,000 at the strat (9/4 for relegation!) are now no bigger than 66/1 shots. It may be dangerous to right off their challenge and backing them for a top four finish might be a bet.
Unless Chelsea start to falter their domination is bad news for the broadcasters - no one wnats to see a one horse race so early in the season.
