City Football Group secure South American team

City Football Group (CFG) have signed a ten-year deal with second-tier Uruguayan side Club Atlético Torque.

CFG are the parent company of Manchester City and currently own 3 other teams in addition to Manchester City. The latest deal expands CFG's portfolio to five clubs. Since buying Manchester City in 2008, CFG has acquired shares in American side New York City, Australia's Melbourne City, and Japan's Yokohama F. Marinos, as well as foundations in Japan and Singapore.

Torque will become the smallest member of the CFG and currently attract home crowds of around 250 people at the Estadio Complejo Daniel Marsicano. The investment in Torque would, however, help Manchester City get around international restrictions on signing non-European players.
