More than 2,000 football clubs are anxiously awaiting the announcement as to which team has won the £3,000 Football Trade Directory’s prize draw; The draw was launched at the recent brmb Grass Roots Football Show.
FTD have chosen Sheffield FC’s iconic home, the BT Local Business Stadium to make the draw, in front of the competition’s partners and media, on Monday 11th July at 11am.
One lucky club will receive £3,000 worth of kit and equipment from Football Trade Directory in partnership with Gazelle Sports, the Non-League Football Paper, the brmb Grass Roots Football Show and Quick Play Sports.
The huge prize has already been described as ‘like winning the lottery’ for a grassroots club, but that hasn’t stopped several larger Blue Square Conference clubs and even one Football League Championship club from entering the competition.
Sheffield FC are the perfect host for the draw, recognised by FIFA and the FA as the world’s first ever football club, they remain one of the most iconic clubs in the non-league and grassroots game.
Speaking about the competition Football Trade Directory’s Commercial Director John Booth said: “The cost of running a grassroots football team is continually rising putting many clubs out of business and we wanted to do our part to help.
“With over 28,000 clubs on our site we are continually used by teams to find suppliers to help fulfill their needs. Grassroots football is the lifeblood of the national game and needs all the support it can get.
Ben Hatton, Director of the brmb Grass Roots Football Show said;
“At a time when grass roots football clubs are finding it increasingly difficult to find sponsorship this competition has been a breath of fresh air.
“There was a real buzz around the competition at the brmb Grass Roots Football Show and to have over 2000 entries is fantastic.“
Steve Crosby director of Quick Play Sport enthused:
“I didn’t have to think too hard when I was approached by John (Booth) of the Football trade directory to supply £1,000 worth of Kickster training equipment for the Grass Roots prize draw. Quick Play Sport has been set up with its main objective to create products to help players, coaches and clubs at every level, everywhere to improve and enjoy football. So it was a perfect fit!
Sam Emery, Head of Sales at the Non League Paper went on to say
“The Non-League Paper is always looking to help grassroots clubs so when this competition arose we were more than happy to be involved. We are delighted with the success of the competition. Competitions like these are so important to Non-League football and we will always try to help as much as we can."
