Coventry City relegated to fourth tier for first time since 1959

Coventry City - who graced the top flight from 1967 until relegation in 2001 now find themselves in the fourth tier of English Football for the first time since 1959.

The Sky Blues may have won the EFL Trophy by beating Oxford at Wembley last month but a recent run of good results has not been enough to keep them in the third tier.

Mark Robins has brought about significant improvement since he arrived but too little - too late.

City, who won the FA Cup in 1987 have been on a downward spiral and for a time played home games at Northampton Town after the club fell out with the Ricoh Arena's owners.

It is a significant fall from grace for one of the countries stalwart clubs.
