Eastleigh's FA Cup runs gives club season ticket boost
FA Cup minnows Eastleigh have been rewarded for their Third Round run with a huge boost in half season ticket sales.
The National League side were the lowest ranked team left when the Third Round draw was made, being drawn against Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
They were just minutes from a historic win being 1-0 up with minutes remaining, only to be denied by a late equaliser.
It did however provide a replay at the Macron stadium with a potentially money spinning televised match, however neither the BBC or Bt Sport opted to pick up the match, much to the frustration of the club's chairman.
In the replay Eastleigh again acquitted themselves well against the Championship side, taking the lead and then pegging Bolton back from 2-1 down.
But their run ended with Darren Pratley bagging the winner that sent the non-league side out of the competition.
They can however take solace from the fact that their remaining home games of the season will see a significant increase in attendance.
A statement from the club said, "Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce that following the sales yesterday of a further amount of half season tickets, the overall number of season tickets for the Club stands at 1045."
"The Club would like to thank all supporters for their support and we are all delighted at the sustained growth on this side of the Club."
