EFL 1 Club Oldham Athletic part company with John Sheridan

John Sheridan, in his third stint as boss of Oldham Athletic has parted company with the club by 'mutual consent'.

Sheridan has twice 'saved' Oldham from a precarious position but this season just one win sees the Latics proppping up the League 1 table.

A statement on Oldham's website said: ' We have not see the progression we hoped with what we felt to be the nucleus of a good squad.'

Sheridan's cause wasn't helped by a 5-1 demolition at Rotherham on Saturday. Sheridan is probably still scratching his head after that result though, as on 70 minutes Oldham we in the game at one apeice. A four goal blitz in seventeen minutes saw Oldham fall apart.

The club statement went on: 'The baord of directors would like to palce on record their thanks to John for his contribution to the development of the club., not only during this tenure, but as both a player and manager previously.'

'His impact over the apst two seasons in particular, when he saved the club from near certain relagetion on both ocacasions, will meanhe is always guaranteed a warm welcome here by both the club and fans alike.'
