EFL allow Blackpool to suspend Leyton Orient ticket sales

The EFL have accepted Blackpool's request to suspend ticket sales to Leyton Orient fans for the final game of the season on Saturday due to safety and security reasons.

The EFL have said the request has been supported in order to allow "a full review of the match day safety and security arrangements."

Both the clubs and safety officers will discuss the issue with the EFL on Tuesday (2nd May) with an update expected the same day at 6pm.

An on the pitch protest by Leyton Orient fans led to the two hour delay of the weekend defeat by Colchester.

Blackpool fans have recently demonstrated against their owners and the club have a suspended charge and a £50,000 fine after an on the pitch protest which caused the abandonment of their Championship fixture with Huddersfield Town in May 2015.

In a statement, the EFL said: "The EFL's objective will always be to ensure that fans of both clubs are able to watch the match live. But, in seeking to achieve this, we are required to consider all the contributing factors, to ensure that the safety of everyone at the game is not put at risk,"
