EFL Cup 3rd round to kick off this week without a sponsor
The Football League are having to face up to the likely situation of being able to obtain a sponsor for the EFL Cup before the 3rd round kicks off.
The lack of a sponsor at this stage of the competition further increases the likelihood of the EFL Cup going the full season without a sponsor. Previous sponsors Capital One, ended their 4 year sponsorship of the completion in the summer after deciding against renewing the deal.
This will be the first time that the cup will have gone a season without a sponsor since the sponsorship deals started in the 1981/82 season, in that time the cup has been sponsored by the likes of Milk Marketing Board, Littlewoods, Coca-Cola and Worthington.
