EFL Cup could "go the season without a sponsor"
The EFL Cup could go the full 2016/17 season without a sponsor says the EFL CEO Shaun Harvey.
When speaking at Soccerex in Manchester this week he was asked about the EFL Cup and a lack of sponsor. In response to this Harvey said "if we need to go a full season without a sponsor then we would do to protect the overall value"
The clubs have been made aware of the situation and Harvey stated that "they were able to accept that" and that it shows "how far the EFL has come".
Interviewer, David Dowes, suggested that the EFL "can't get a sponsor" but Harvey was quick to correct him that it was that they "haven't got a sponsor". To add clarity to this Harvey went on "we could get a sponsor tomorrow but the reality is the value of that has to get a value that would do the competition justice"
