England set for knock outs in Euro 2016

 Football News 24/
The financial implications of England's last major flop have not been forgotten by many. England's failure to get out of their group in the Brazil World Cup two years ago cost the country millions of pounds.

A repeat of that in France on Monday is almost unthinkable amongst the pub and restaurant trade, high street retailers and clubs hoping England's success will leave a feel good factor for next season.

If the team news from St Ettienne is to be believed then England boss Roy Hodgson looks set to mix up his squad and rest five or six players from the win over Wales.

Some pundits see it as a sensible strategy with the knock-out stages almost within sight - but others can point to England's failure in the same Stadium in World Cup 1998 which left them runners up to Rumania in their group and then having to face Argentina in the knock-outs. A game they famously lost on penalties .Football fans have long memories and with Wayne Rooney - by far England's best player set to be on the bench you have to hope Hodgson has not taken an unnecessary risk.

If England win Group B by beating Slovakia then there is every chance they will face easier opposition in the first knock out game.
