Essex FA: Facility grant for Wivenhoe Youth FC

Football Foundation assist Essex clubs with pitch improvements

Wivenhoe Youth FC have received a grant of £2,759 from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund Small Grants Scheme, which is delivered by the Football Foundation, in order to purchase maintenance equipment which will improve the quality of grass pitches at their Broad Lane home.
The scheme awards grants of up to £10,000 for the provision of capital items, or to refurbish/improve existing facilities. The aims of this scheme are to support the growth of football clubs and activity, to prevent a decline in participation and to make improvements to facilities whilst addressing any health and safety issues.
Colin Allan, Chairman of Wivenhoe Youth FC, said: “We would like to thank the Football Foundation for their assistance in securing this funding, as this equipment should go a long way to helping teams of all age groups get more playing time, particularly in the winter months. Having this equipment means that we can aerate the pitches on a more frequent basis, rather than having to hire the equipment in as and when funds allow.”
Wivenhoe & District Sporting Facilities Trust Chairman, Colin Game, was equally delighted, explaining: “There are a number of other youth football teams that use Broad Lane, namely Tempest FC and Wivenhoe Town Youth FC, and we hope to see all clubs benefit from the good work done by Wivenhoe Youth FC.”
Brendan Walshe at the Essex County FA offered advice with their application and Jason Winstanley, Wivenhoe Youth FC Development Officer, stated: “Our thanks go to Brendan and the Essex County FA for their assistance over the past months. We look forward to working with them in the future with regards to the facilities at Broad Lane.”
If you’re looking to improve your football facilities, which could involve refurbishing and improving changing rooms, natural grass or 3G artificial grass pitches, the first step in the process is to use the 'Grant Finder' facility via Contact the Essex County FA’s Brendan Walshe on (01245) 393075 or E-Mail before completing the form.
