FA Cup Third Round kicks off this evening with Liverpool hoping to avoid upset at League Two side Exeter

The FA Cup resumes this evening with the Premier League sides entering the fray as Liverpool take on League Two side Exeter City.

Jurgen Klopp's side travel to St James Park this evening for their second cup tie this week, having beaten Stoke City 1-0 in their League Cup semi-final first leg.

That match has come at a cost for Liverpool however, with three injuries picked up during the game adding to an already long injury list. They have also lost Jordan Ibe to hamstring injury, meaning seven Liverpool players are currently sidelined with the same injury.

The subject of squad rotation has been widely discussed by Premier League managers this week, with a full program of top flight matches taking place during midweek following this weekend.

Klopp has admitted he would have made changes even if so many players weren't ruled out through injury, and have recalled some of their loan players this week to bolster numbers.

For Exeter, the prospect of a full house and the chance to upset one of the biggest clubs in the country epitomises the magic of the FA Cup, and they will be hoping to take advantage Liverpool's limited options on the pitch.

The state of the pitch at St James Park has been raised as it normally does when a top flight side goes to a lower league ground, and Exeter have made no bones about wanting the pitch to disrupt Liverpool's game as much as possible.

But Liverpool aren't the only Premier League side who will be looking not to step on the proverbial banana skin. On Saturday, among the 26 six ties played on Saturday, League One sides Doncaster and Sheffield United take on Stoke and Manchester United respectively, whilst on Sunday Premier League champions Chelsea play Scunthorpe United.
