Fifa about turn on Poppy issue
It looks like Fifa are about to lift the ban on teams displaying a poppy on their armbands after talks with The FA.
last year Fifa fined the home countries, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for wearing poppies on their armbands to mark Armistice Day.
Fifa had deemed the poppy to be a political symbol - which are banned under the rules.
The four home countries were all fined after ignoring the ban.
According to BBC Sport Fifa has sent out a draft proposal to its member nations with revised provisions that could see the poppy permitted if opposing teams and the competition organiser for the relevant match both accept its use in advance.
If the proposal is accepted it looks like England and other nations will be able to wear a poppy - usually embroidered into an armband - for their game against Germany in November.
