Former Birmingham and Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish agrees to be new boss of Egyptian champions
Former Aston Villa and Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has returned to management with Egyptian champions Zamalek.
The 57-year-old will take over from former Tottenham and Middlesbrough striker Mido, who was sacked two weeks ago.
A statement on Zamalek's official website said: "Murtaza Mansour, chairman of the club, has confirmed that Alex McLeish has signed with him in principle to lead the first team."
McLeish has been out of work since leaving Belgian side Genk at the end of last season. His last job in England was a brief stint in charge of Nottingham Forest which ended in 2013.
The former Aberdeen and Scotland defender has also previously managed Motherwell, Hibernian, and Rangers in his native Scotland.
