Former Manchester United star Gary Neville under pressure as Valencia boss after 7-0 defeat

Football News 24/7

Gary Neville's future as Valencia boss is under further scrutiny following a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona in the Copa Del Ray.

Neville has yet to win in eight La Liga games but has found success in the cup competition guiding them to the semi final where they faced Barcelona.

Whilst many will have predicted a tough night for Neville and his team at the Nou Camp, four goals from Luis Suarez and a hat trick Lionel Messi subjected the former Manchester United man to a damaging defeat.

After the game Neville admitted the game was one of his 'worst experiences' in football.

The ex England international was appointed by Valencia owner Peter Lim in December, who also owns half of Salford City, with the other half being owned by Neville,  his brother Phil, and fellow ex Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt, also owns.

Since retiring as a player Nevill has forged a reputation as a top class pundit working for Sky Sports, as well as being part of the England coaching staff, but Valencia is his first foray into management.

Calls for Neville to leave the club intensified on social media last night, but Neville has remained resolute in his belief that he can take the club forward, with his contract running until the end of the season.
