Former Preston North End chairman Keith Leeming dies aged 83

Preston North End have confirmed the death of their former chairman Keith Leeming.

Leeming passed away on Saturday morning, after a short illness, at the age of 83.

Mr Leeming first joined the Preston board of directors ahead of the 1977/78 season, having previously been chairman of the Supporters Club.

It was in September 1982 that Mr Leeming took over as PNE chairman, and enjoyed a 12-year tenure at the Club, until 1994, when  Bryan Gray was appointed chairman.

In the summer of 1986, under the chairmanship of Mr Leeming, John McGrath was appointed as manager and led North End to promotion to the Third Division in his first season in 1986/87.

After his time as chairman, Keith remained as a director, and went on to become vice-president and continued in this role until his passing.

The club said on their official website "our sincere condolences go out to all of Keith's family and friends."
