Huddersfield Town Submit Plans for Hilton Garden Inn Hotel Development at Accu Stadium

Huddersfield Town have submitted a planning application for a major redevelopment project at the Accu Stadium, including a proposed 141-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

The proposed development would be built alongside the Terriers Together North Stand and would redevelop the former offices and facilities previously occupied by Kirklees Active Leisure. Plans include a 141-room hotel, the remodelling of existing premium hospitality areas and 14 matchday boxes.

Current designs also feature a 100-seat restaurant and bar, a glass atrium and gym facilities for guests. The development would incorporate the existing H Town space, with architects working alongside the club to create flexible public areas across the ground floor.

Those areas would also be available for supporters on matchdays, providing additional facilities and enhancing the overall visitor experience at the Accu Stadium.

Huddersfield Town is partnering with Hilton Hotels through its Hilton Garden Inn brand. The hotel group has developed similar projects at a number of major sporting venues across the UK, combining accommodation with sports and leisure facilities.

Under the current construction proposals, the Terriers Together North Stand would be closed for the duration of the 2027-28 season while work is carried out. The club has confirmed that access to the remainder of the stadium, including turnstiles and concourses, would remain unaffected throughout the build.

Supporters impacted by the closure will be contacted once the construction schedule has been finalised.

The development marks the first major project since Huddersfield Town acquired full ownership of the Accu Stadium and the surrounding 53-acre site in September 2025. Club officials believe the scheme will play a key role in the regeneration of the HD1 area while creating new year-round revenue opportunities.

Huddersfield Town owner and chairman Kevin Nagle said: "I am incredibly excited to announce that we have officially submitted the planning application for our hotel development at the Accu Stadium.

"This is the culmination of months of hard work behind the scenes. We have been working closely with experts to focus on what would benefit not only Huddersfield Town the most, but the town of Huddersfield as well.

"We have teamed up with Hilton Hotels to bring the Hilton Garden Inn brand, as they share our same vision that goes far beyond the building itself.

"Having acquired the full 53-acre site surrounding our home in HD1 last year, this marks the true start of our first stage of development and initial steps toward becoming a real year-round destination and venue, breathing new life and possibilities into the Club and our stadium.

"I have stated from the first time I stepped into Huddersfield just over three years ago that the potential is here. I fell in love with the place from day one. And with the help of the team we've assembled, we are fully focused on turning that potential into a reality for all to benefit from.

"This is a massive next step."
