Institute of Groundsmen asks for fans support
The IOG is calling on supporters at games this weekend to show their appreciation for groundsmen’s tireless efforts with one minute’s applause during the 27th minute
Following last weekend’s sacking of Ken Hare as head groundsman at Southend United FC, after his 27 years’ service to the club, the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) is calling on sports fans nationwide to applaud the tireless work of groundsmen who, day in and day out in all weathers, maintain the playing surfaces for the teams we all love.
The IOG is calling on supporters at games this weekend to show their appreciation for groundsmen’s tireless efforts with one minute’s applause during the 27th minute.
The IOG – the leading UK membership organisation for everyone involved in managing and maintaining playing surfaces - says the quality of UK groundsmanship is widely respected and acknowledged throughout the world, but that groundsman are often among the unsung heroes of sport and they deserve respect, appreciation and support for their skilled work. The campaign is also being promoted on:
