Is Terry Robinson Leicester City's Director of Football the fall guy for now?

Leicester City have sacked director of football Terry Robinson in a move that seems to take the attention away from boss Nigel Pearson - but for how long.

Academy director Jon Rudkin will assume Robinson's former responsibilities but is Robinson really to blame. He has a distinguished track record - helped launch Stoke City's Premier Academy before joining the Foxes and his reputation in football behind the scenes is second to none.

Whilst Leicester have slipped to the foot of the table after collecting just two points from 11 games Pearson and the players have to take the blame - in any event even if Robinson got things wrong with the summer signings there's no way Pearosn didn't give his approval.

Robinson's departure, and Rudkin's rise to director of football, was confirmed by the club in a statement on their website.

"Jon has been with Leicester City Football Club for 16 years, has headed the club's academy... since 2003 and has an excellent understanding of the club's footballing philosophy and values," the statement said.

"The owners, directors, management and staff at Leicester City would like to place on record our collective thanks to Terry for his work and contribution, and wish him well in the future."

But you can't help feeling the move has avoided for now a more difficult decision for the Board - for now.
