England have another home game - the second in four days and after the fabulous win over Scotland in a game that mattered a friendly against Spain is not in the same league writes Joe Ross from www.­footyinsider.­co.­uk

Even though the Spanish remain the No1 side in the World their recent performances have not matched their European and World Cup form of recent times and they were far from impressive in the Euros.

Still, neither were England and the last time these two sides met in a friendly Spain won.

Hence England start as 2/1 outsiders, Spain are 13/8 with the draw generally 11/5.

Both Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney have departed Gareth Southgate's squad with injuries and Jordan Henderson looks set to skipper the side.

The Liverpool man is heir apparent and Southgate will be hoping for a creditable show to bolster his chances of retaining the England job long-term. This is the last of his four game 'trial' and the win over Scotland did him no harm.

It will be interesting to see who he goes with up front with Rooney out - Daniel Sturridge impressed for England despite not figuring hardly for Liverpool this season and it would be a surprise if he doesn't start.

But Spain don't concede many and backing England goalscorers could be a fools errand.

On the other hand, England rarely lose at Wembley and the ifs and buts of the game suggest a watching brief not a betting event.
