Langley Compass Group Powers New Digital Signage at Blackburn Rovers FC's Roverstore
Langley Compass Group delivers a 12-screen digital display estate for the club's retail store at Ewood Park - a partnership that began at a Football Trade Directory event.
Blackburn Rovers Football Club has completed a full digital transformation of its retail store, Roverstore, working with digital signage specialist Langley Compass Group to replace the shop's traditional printed posters with a network of 12 digital display screens.
The relationship between the two organisations began at a Football Trade Directory event, where early conversations about modernising Roverstore first took shape. Not long after, the club embarked on a complete refurbishment of the store, with digital signage forming a central part of bringing the retail space in line with a more modern, matchday-ready environment for supporters.
Replacing static posters with dynamic, instant marketing
As part of the refurbishment, Blackburn Rovers wanted to retire the old-school printed posters that had long served as Roverstore's main in-store marketing, in favour of something built for a modern fanbase - a way to run dynamic, instant promotions with the flexibility to use video and multiple rotating messages, controlled by the club's own marketing team.
Langley Compass Group supplied, fitted and now supports the full installation: seven 22" screens across a central media wall, two 55" displays on the entrance pillars, and three 75" high-brightness displays across the storefront windows, one of which faces directly onto the Fanzone. Every screen is tied together by a single CMS platform, allowing staff to push a new promotion, video or campaign to any screen - or target specific ones, like the windows, for standalone teaser campaigns - in moments, whether they're on the shop floor or working from the office.
The window units were a deliberate technical choice. Positioned facing outward, they run at up to 3,500 cd/m² of brightness - around ten times brighter than a typical home television - with a built-in ambient light sensor that adjusts the picture automatically as conditions outside change, keeping content legible in direct daylight rather than washing out.
Getting the placement right was as important as the hardware itself. Ahead of installation, Langley Compass Group worked with the Roverstore team on-site at Ewood Park to test sizing and positioning for each screen, backed by visual mock-ups so the club could see exactly how each display would look in place before committing to the install.
A launch tied to the new season
The new screens went live for Roverstore's reopening, timed deliberately to coincide with the launch of Blackburn Rovers' new season kit. Fans were already queuing outside from first thing that morning, with the window displays running teaser content while they waited for the doors to open - turning the reopening into part of the build-up to the kit launch itself.
