Scotland fan Lee Dawson wins brand new Vauxhall Corsa
Dawson, from Rutherglen in Glasgow teamed up with former Scotland international Kevin Gallacher and defeated fans from England, Northern Ireland and Wales in the Grand Final of The Last Fan Standing competition that Scotland team sponsor Vauxhall have been running all year.
Lee came out on top after a series of challenges at the filming of the Vauxhall Home Nations Show, beating fellow contenders who teamed up with Ian Wright for England, Gerry Taggart for Northern Ireland and Iwan Roberts for Wales.
Challenges included a four-way radio controlled car football match, football charades and a mini football target skills game. All of the action was captured on camera as part of Vauxhall’s Home Nations Football Show on YouTube.
After his victory Lee said: “This is all so surreal, I still can’t believe it. I’m just a guy from Scotland who works on a building site.
“It’s still sinking in that I’ve actually gone and done it and won a brand new Vauxhall Corsa.
“It’s an amazing feeling, it’s like the best early Christmas present ever, that’s the only way I can describe it.”
“Going out on to that pitch at Hampden Park to take penalties was an unbelievable experience and something I’ll never forget.
“I’ve just tried to relax with it all and not let the nerves get the better of me in front of the crowds at Hampden. I’ll never get the chance to do something like this again, it’s been absolutely brilliant.
“Scotland might not be going to France but I’m the Vauxhall Home Nations Champion and I’ve won a brand new Vauxhall Corsa, so things are definitely looking up for the Scots!”
Vauxhall is the proud sponsor of all four Home Nations and have been running the Last Fan Standing competition during half time activity at international games across the nations since March. Along the way contestants took part in penalty shootouts, darts and guessing quiz games to find the Last Fan Standing.
