League One: Mauro Milanese sacked as manager and replaced by Fabio Liverani

League One strugglers Leyton Orient have announced Fabio Liverani as their new manager just hours after Mauro Milanese was removed from the role.

Milanese will stay on at the club however, and revert back to his role as Sporting Director, one which he held until Russell Slade left the club to manage Cardiff.

Liverani, a former Italy international, has managerial experience with Genoa in Italy and has signed a two and half year contract with the club.

The new manager brings with him new members of the backroom staff with Marcello Donatelli (assistant manager) and Maurizio Cantarelli (fitness coach) also joining the club.

Upon signing Liverani said: ā€œI’m excited about this challenge and cannot wait to get started at Leyton Orient. This is a long term project and we will work together to make it a success.ā€

During Milanese's eight game tenure, Orient managed only one league win from five, and despite a win in the JPT, they have been knocked out of both that and the FA Cup.

Liverani will become the third permanent manager of the club since Francesco Becchetti's takeover earlier this year.
