League One: Swindon sack Mark Cooper and chairman Lee Power takes temporary charge of the first team
The club released a statement in which they gave "their thanks to Mark for his outstanding work ethic and commitment to the job during his two-and-a-half-year tenure."
"Unfortunately, performances and results this term have not been as good as the club had hoped for with the current squad."
Cooper took charge at the club in August 2013 and managed to guide the club to the League One Play-Off final last season, where they were soundly beaten 4-0 by Preston.
This season, the Robins have not been able to replicate the kind of form that nearly got them promoted last season, and have lost six of their last seven league games.
The club's Chairman, Lee Power, has confirmed that he himself will take charge of the senior squad until a replacement is found, but insists that he will not be the club's next permanent manager.
