League Two: Morecambe FC Chairman Peter McGuigan puts club up for sale
Morecambe FC chairman and majority shareholder, Peter McGuigan has announced today that he is putting the club up for sale.
In a statement on the club's official website he said, "Having been Chairman for 16 years, I feel the time is right for a new owner to take the Club forward and build on a strong platform that exists today. The Club moved into a new purpose-built wholly owned stadium in August 2010 and is virtually debt free. There is an opportunity to develop the ground further with a new office block, as well as a hotel adjacent to the stadium. These exciting developments will assist in securing the long-term financial viability of the Club."
Morecambe are currently 18th in League Two and 11 points clear of the relegation zone. The club's next fixture is at home to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 12th March.
