Ligue 1, the top tier of men’s football in France, has unveiled data and technology company Stats as a new strategic partner ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The deal will see Stats provide data and statistics to Ligue 1, including live player tracking, and will manage the distribution of information as the league looks to elevate the role of performance data in French football, both for sporting and commercial use.

“The development of statistics is now an essential point for match analysis and player performances evaluation,” said Mathieu Ficot, director of economic development at Ligue 1.

“This new agreement with Stats will enable French football to deliver new services to clubs and official broadcasters in France and all around the world.”
