Liverpool, Southampton and Spurs count cost of European failure
As the Premier League season draws to a climax, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton are, according to the Daily Express, projected to miss out on the Champions League as they lag between five and six points behind fourth-place Manchester United.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League is seen as a major blow to a club’s transfer policy, infrastructure spending and development plans, so great is the television revenue and prize money on offer.
A club can expect to make almost £800,000 simply from winning a group game.
According to The Express, 48 teams will share the £276million prize pot in next season's Europa League
For UEFA have confirmed a 65% prize fund increase for the Europa League, which in itself is a progressive move but in reality means next to nothing compared to the Champions League.
Each of the 48 Europa League clubs will be guaranteed a minimum £1.7million of the £276m prize fund next season. That is £750,000 more than this season and the cash increases the further clubs progress.
However, with upwards of £50m available for top-four clubs in the Premier League, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton know there really is only one prize when it comes to playing in Europe.
All three are away on the weekend -Liverpool face Arsenal, Spurs are at Turf moor to face Burnley and Southampton travel to Everton.
