Liverpool submit plans for Anfield expansion

Liverpool have submitted plans to increase the amount of seats in the Kop stand.

The club want to expand 'The Kop' stand by an additional 470 seats, although the overall capacity of the stadium will stay at 54,000. The increase is intended to provide improved facilities for disabled fans, by installing an additional 250 wheelchair bays.

Approximately 1,000 existing seats are expected to be relocated to other areas in the ground.

Anfield has recently undergone substantial upgrades before the start of this season by redeveloping the Main Stand which increased the capacity from 45,500. Further expansion is planned for the Anfield Road Stand which could see the capacity rise to 59,000.
