The Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld Luis Suarez's four month ban, but have allowed him to take part in non competitive football activates.

The initial ban meant Suarez, 27, could not take part in any 'football related activity' during the ban, such as attending games or even training with his squad.

His ban from competitive games still stands however, and he will be available from the match at Real Madrid on 26 October.

The Uruguay striker will also continue to serve his nine-match international ban but, having previously been banned from all "football-related activity", the former Liverpool player can now train and attend matches as well as undertake promotional activities.

Both Uruguay and Barcelona still have friendly matches, with Barca's last before the start of La Liga next week, but FIFA have yet to clarify whether he can take part in these matches. A full explanation of the ruling will not be published until a later date.

Suarez was a Liverpool player when he reicieved the ban, but still managed to get a £75m move to Barcelona after it was handed down.
