Manchester United Appoint Collette Roche as CEO of New Stadium Development at Old Trafford
Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Collette
Roche to a newly created role as Chief Executive Officer, New Stadium
Development, formalising her leadership of the club’s involvement in the Old
Trafford regeneration project.
Roche’s appointment follows the official launch of the Old
Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation (OTR MDC), which is
overseeing plans to transform the area around the stadium. The wider
regeneration scheme is expected to deliver thousands of new jobs and homes,
with a proposed new 100,000-seater stadium acting as the catalyst.
In her new position, Roche will report directly to
Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada and will focus exclusively on
progressing plans for the stadium development as the project moves into its
next phase.
The club has already begun extensive engagement with
supporters. In November, United launched the latest phase of fan consultation
after outlining its vision in March for a new stadium designed to deliver what
it describes as the best fan experience in world football. Supporters were
invited to give their views on a range of potential features, including
facilities, seating layouts and pricing structures.
Berrada praised Roche’s work to date, saying she had played
a key role in shaping the club’s ambitions. He said the appointment would allow
her to be fully dedicated to delivering a project of huge importance to
Manchester United and the wider Old Trafford area as plans accelerate.
Roche said she was proud to take on the role and stressed
the importance of collaboration with the Mayoral Development Corporation and
other stakeholders. She added that the club’s ambition is to create the best
stadium in the world for its team and supporters, with fan input continuing to
guide the design and development process at every stage.
