Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs prepares to open football themed hotel near Old Trafford
memorabilia, football photos and even old Panini stickers of footballing greats used as wallpaper. The hotel has 133 rooms across 12 floors, a restaurant and a roof-top football pitch, and is located right by his old stomping ground Old Trafford.
Giggs is still fully involved with the club as part of manager Louis Van Gaal's coaching team, and hopes that the Old Trafford Supporters Club will attract fans on match days.
Giggs said: "This has been four or five years in the making so it's nice to experience it all and see it finally coming to fruition. Obviously here we're right in the shadow of Old Trafford, but Hotel Football is something we hope to take around the UK and eventually around the world, so for us it's a celebration of football in general."
Managing director Stuart Procter added that it was more than just about housing football fans.
"Hotel Football is about the global fan experience; football brings everybody together, so we wanted to create something here that's for everybody," he said.
"Football is about fun, and that's what hotels and restaurants are about too -- we're in the entertainment business.
"We want to see families here with kids' birthday parties, as well as groups of girls enjoying cocktails, as well as football fans coming here to watch a game in the week or on matchdays too."
