Newcastle United boss John Carver apologises after Manchester City debacle

It wasn't the fact that Newcastle lost but the fact that United were humiliated at the hands of the champions on a day when the score-line threatened to get out of hand that promoted carver's reaction.
It could have been a record defeat had Tim Krul not been in fine form.
WAs reported in the Evening Chronicle, when asked what the message he could offer to the supporters, Carver said: “An apology first of all because we all know that we have a fantastic following and they were behind the team.
“For them, like me, when you concede an early goal it is disheartening but they stayed behind us and kept singing. We weren’t great.
“We come up against a top side.
“And I’ve seen better sides than us – and all due respect to us – come here and take a hiding like we did.”
Carver’s record took another major dent as his team slumped to defeat meaning he has won just one game in charge since Alan Pardew left the club.
Explaining how United will deal with the situation, he said: “Do we or I start talking behind people’s backs? Or sulk?
“I hope not. I said to them in the room we will have a discussion on Monday. We will air our differences and talk about today’s performance then take that forward into Aston Villa.
“What you have to bear in mind is there’s three divisions in the Premier League and we know where we are.
“If you get something at a stadium like this then great. If you don’t it’s not good, but it’s how you deal with it. And I think people know how positive I am.
“It hasn’t been a good day in the office but when we get back to work on Monday we will do everything in our means to get three points against Villa.'
Newcastle hero Alan Shearer pulled no punches on Match of The Day saying: "They were pathetic. It was embarrassing, from the first minute to the last," Shearer scored 206 goals in 10 seasons for Newcastle and is the fans favourite son.
