Newcastle United fans anger over fixture change

According to the Daily mail, Newcastle supporters have reacted with anger to the decision to switch their trip to Bournemouth to a lunchtime kick-off on a Saturday.

The Magpies will face the newly-promoted Cherries live on BT Sport on November 7 at 12.45pm.

But the distance between the two clubs – 359 miles - is the longest in the Barclays Premier League.

That means fans travelling the six-or-so hours by road will have to leave Tyneside at around 5am to be certain of making the match in decent time.

There is the option of the 5.59am train from Newcastle, which requires two changes to arrive in Bournemouth at midday. However, a return ticket already costs £157.

There is also a morning flight from Newcastle to Southampton that would allow enough time to make the game, although the return flight isn't until the following day and the cost is around £130.

Supporters face a 5am start to get to the game while public transport options are limited and expensive.
