Non League: Vanarama National League approve 3G pitches

Today, the Vanarama National League have approved the use of 3G pitches in the top tier of non-league football.

The decision was voted for today at the leagues EGM hosted at AFC Telford's New Bucks Head stadium. Currently allowed in football below step 1, artificial pitches have proven to benefit clubs, for example Maidstone United who have recently moved into their new Gallagher Stadium which has a 3G playing surface.

Non-League clubs are turning to artificial pitches to try and prevent a financial strain which are occurring from the numerous winter postponements. It is also understood that a large contingent of League Two clubs are also keen to allow the use of artificial pitches as they are currently banned in the Football League. (MA)
