Nottingham Forest chief Paul Faulkner resigns after Dougie Freedman is named as new manager
Nottingham Forest Chief Executive Paul Faulkner has resigned from his role after the appointment of Dougie Freedman as the club's new manager.
The club announced the appointment of Freedman on the same day that it was confirmed former boss and Forest legend Stuart Pearce had left the club, after a home defeat by struggling Millwall.
That defeat appeared to be the last straw for the Forest owners following a poor run of form which has seen the club slip from the top of the table in September to mid table obscurity.
Pearce's replacement, the 40-year-old Freedman has been without a club since October since leaving fellow Championship side Bolton, who are now managed by Neil Lennon.
Freedman had previously left Crystal Palace to join Bolton, with his managerial role at the London club his first.
Reports in the media have speculated however that his appointment was not considered by, or even spoke about, to cheif exec Faulkner, who has been at the club since September.
The lack of communication from the owners on a matter such as a new manager, which is something that as a chief exec Faulkner would normally be consulted on, has served to undermine the former Aston Villa chief, hence his decision to quit the club.
