Oldham Athletic put Dean Holden in charge as Lee Johnson joins Barnsley

With the anticipated move by current boss Lee Johnson to Barnsley Oldham Athletic have moved to fill the gap.

Dean Holden, a former player and long time fans favourite, has been placed in temporary charge at Athletic “for the immediate future”, a statement on the club's website read. He will be assisted in that role by club captain Adam Lockwood.

It has not been revealed if Barnsley have had to pay Oldham compensation for taking Johnson but it would be the norm in these circumstances.
