PFA name Hope Powell first female coach educator
The Professional Football Association have announced that Ex-England woman's manager Hope Powell has joined their coaching department as it's first female coach educator.
Hope Powell is the first woman to obtain the UEFA Pro License coaching badge and coached the England women's team between 1998 and 2013. She was also capped as a England player 66 times. Based in the south east, she will work with both male and female PFA members within the professional game, helping them become better equipped to be managers and coaches in the future.
Powell said, “I am extremely pleased to be joining the PFA within the coaching department and keen to help develop the next generation of coaches in this country.
“It’s a great opportunity to work within the men’s professional game and hopefully I can be a positive role model for future females who want to embark in a role as a coach educator within this field.
“Coach education is something I really enjoy, this is an area that I have been working on at Fifa and I am looking forward to carrying this on at home in England.”
