Preliminary round of Carabao Cup drawn after English success in Europe
The four lowest ranked sides in next season's Carabao Cup will take part in a preliminary round to account for there being nine Premier League sides competing in Europe next season.
Rochdale and York, who were promoted from the National League this season, and Crawley and Tranmere, who finished 21st and 22nd in League Two, have been drawn to play two ties.
York will play Crawley with the winner entered in the Southern section of the first round draw, whilst Tranmere host Rochdale with the winner entering the Northern section.
After the first round the regional sections will be reorganised based on the teams remaining, with the nine European sides entering in round three.
Five teams will compete in the Champions League next season - Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool.
Bournemouth, Sunderland and Crystal Palace will be in the Europa League whilst Brighton are the team that clinched a Conference League spot.
