Premier League: Crystal Palace have some good news
It's been a torrid week for Crystal Palace with the managerial merry go round following the departure of Tony Pulis taking on the feeling of a soap opera. But one bit of good news was announced with the deal between William Hill and the club.
The deal, announced on Thursday, sees Britain’s largest bookmaker become the official betting partner of the Eagles.
In the last ten days alone, the English Premier League’s Southampton and Aston Villa have also signed with the betting company. Financial details are yet to be revealed.
“We’re delighted that William Hill Online has become the official betting partner of Crystal Palace Football Club,” said Kristof Fahy, chief marketing officer at William Hill, “The Barclays Premier League is the most watched domestic football competition in the world - and this deal with Palace gives us a gateway to introduce a whole new global audience to the William Hill brand.”
The news comes at a time when the English Football Association (FA) may, controversially, be renewing its contract with the bookmaker. This is despite a ban on gambling for anyone working in English football.
Moreover, William Hill recently reduced its partnership fee with the FA due to the national team’s woeful performance at the 2014 Fifa World Cup, suggesting the FA would be better off searching elsewhere for sponsorship.
Rivals SkyBet sponsor the Football League.
