Premier League: Leaders Manchester City to consult fans about club crest
Manchester City have announced that they will be entering a consultation process to gauge the view of their fans on the club's crest.
Core supporters of all ages will be canvassed for their opinions in a wide-ranging and open discussion that includes a high-tech consultation space at the Etihad Stadium and a series of bespoke lectures by historian Gary James.
The consultation process will begin at 9.00am tomorrow (Saturday 17th October) ahead of the home game versus Bournemouth and will run for 4 weeks.
“The badge is the most visual representation of Manchester City and is so central to our heritage,” commented Chief Executive Officer Ferran Soriano.
“We are looking for our fans to share their views as to what they consider to be the most authentic symbols of the Club. The views of our Cityzens are essential to the process; they will have a real say on the future of our badge.”
As they ponder their response to the consultation fans will be able to access video, graphics and photography to remind them of the rich history of the City badges. There will also be free lectures from Manchester football historian Gary James.
“Over the years, one of the few constants at Manchester City has been discussion about the badge. Today is no different,” he declared. “This Club knows how important its heritage is to its fans and I have been impressed with the commitment to keeping them at the centre of this project. I am looking forward to being part of the consultation process.”
City are currently top of the Premier League but will be without key man Sergio Aguero this weekend following an injury picked up on international duty with Argentina.
